Ok, so I’m joining the crowd in experimenting with a blog. Are you that surprised? If you know me, the answer is no. If you don’t know me, well, there’s just not much to form an opinion on, is there?
Let’s get this thing started. I am a work at home mother with one daughter, Ariel. I do medical transcription for a company called Medquist, but that’s far from my passion. I also do website design at http://www.aspectsofdesign.com, which is a bit better than medical transcription. But what I love working on is my website for stay at home and work at home parents, http://www.homewiththekids.com. Much of this blog will relate to getting that site running and hopefully, someday, successful enough to where I don’t have to do the medical transcription. Yep, that’s my goal and I’m sticking to it.
What am I trying right now? Well, I just got started with AdWords, which is pretty tough, but I always did love a challenge. So far I’ve found two great resources for learning how to do AdWords without paying a fortune for each click. I use Google Cash and The Search Engine Institute. No, I haven’t had instant success with either, but I’m rapidly improving my ads with their advice. If you want to market your website with AdWords, Overture or any other PPC search engine, I strongly recommend these books. Google Cash is perhaps the slightly better of the two, but they both have worthwhile tools and tips.
Otherwise, I am marketing through my newsletter (feel free to sign up), articles, discussion boards and just pure content so the search engines will hopefully like me some day. They’re starting to like me a little, so I’m sure over time I will rank adequately.
