I think someone’s trying to scam me… maybe. I got a call this morning from someone claiming to be from The Search Engine Institute, asking me a few questions, then offering to set up a call for tonight. Now, what makes me suspicious is that I don’t recall giving them my contact information. However, I do have a review of them on my site, so I think that is why they know I have bought that program.

Now, this is not the first time this has happened to me. I was contacted a few weeks ago by someone claiming to be from Google, offering me the chance to join a “success program” with them. No mention of price, but the call was very similar in some ways. This first call asked for more information about what I wanted from my business and my present situation, but somehow, the one makes me think of the other.

That said, I don’t think I am a very easy target for scam artists. I do a lot of research before spending money or giving my information out. I find it interesting that I’m getting these calls, but do I trust them? No. It’s too easy to pretend to be something you’re not over the phone, perhaps even easier than it is to fake something on the Internet.

Yes, I am that cynical sometimes.
