Getting Lots of Updates Done!

Phew! Just finished rearranging the site a little bit. I put the Newsletter and the Home Business Tips in their own sections. Just keeping things a bit neater, since those were two of the larger sections on this website. If you have anything of those bookmarked, however, now would be a good time to change it. I have redirects on all the old pages, which I will take down in a month or so, maybe sooner. I’ve tried adding a custom 404 error page, but I don’t think it’s working yet.

I added a good bit to the Home Business Tips page too. In addition to my section on Affiliate Marketing, I’ve added one on Direct Sales, getting work done with kids around and just plain getting started in home business. Over the next few weeks, months, whatever it takes, I’ll be adding tips on starting a service business, webmaster business, selling your own products, etc., pretty much whatever I can think of to make a rather complete home business resource.

Ah Spam, Delightful Spam!

Nice try, BUB!

Important Message to MY Downline,

I just received an urgent warning email from the accounts department of the
online business that you joined a few months back. They told me that you
have not yet confirmed acceptance of your last months stats or money earned.

If you don’t do this immediately then not only will you miss being paid
out, it will also mean I don’t get paid my over rides which will be very sad
as I am owed $12,152USD this month.

Please, simply visit this link and log into your account and accept your
stats statement and collect your earnings so I can get mine too.

Please, click here:
http://nowayI’mpostingthislink, you get the idea.

Spammers will try anything, won’t they? Do I even want to know what they’re after?

I don’t even know where to start on this one. How many poor suckers are going to fall for this one?

Need to Work on Procrastinating

Why do I do this to myself? Ariel’s off with her grandparents today, and I haven’t started transcribing yet. Just ran through checking my link exchanges and making other minor tweaks that are closer to fooling around than working. I could just blame it on my cold, which is why I didn’t work yesterday either, but I HAVE to get more transcription done.

I submitted a huge stack of my articles to a couple of my favorite article directories yesterday, so hopefully some will be picked up and used in ezines and such. I really shouldn’t neglect that form of marketing the way I do. I sent in 8 or 10 or so articles to each of the directories, so I doubt any given publisher will use more than 1, while if I had spread them out, I’d have a better chance of multiple uses, I think. Oh, well.

Now it really is time for me to get to work.

Major Site Map Update

Just finished a major update to the site map of my website. It was really too big for one page, so I broke it up into sections. It should be a lot easier for people who use it to find things now. The tricky part is always keeping it search engine friendly, but I think I’ve done a fair enough job of that.

I also revamped my prewritten links for link exchanges to use more keywords. I like changing them regularly anyhow, so that I don’t get too many links using the same phrases. Always trying to keep the best, most relevant keywords, of course.

Promoting the Forum

And now I’ve added a javascript to have what’s happening on the discussion boards on all my pages, most especially the newsletter, right in the middle in that case. I hope all these modifications help get the boards moving a little. At the very least, it will make them more apparent to everyone, and over time should make them more interesting to guests. I love the way it all looks. The look was changed a little; I removed the navigation from the side, but you can still navigate from the discussion boards to any section of the site from the links at the bottom.

Spam is Bad Form

Wow, got my first spam on my gmail address. I put it as my contact address on a couple of the work at home boards, and someone decided to just spam me from it. Bad form, bad idea. I won’t be contacting her or anything, just hit the spam button. Google wants to know what spam looks like, after all. I hate to do it to an email from another work at home mom, but if she doesn’t know better than to spam, she’s going to get into trouble anyhow.

I put up a new section on the website. It’s tips on saving gas. Seems pretty relevant with the way prices keep climbing, and there are so many ways to try to save. My big suggestion relevant to the rest of the website was, surprise, telecommute at least one day a week. Depending on the commute, that can be a pretty good savings.

Modifying the Forum

Ahh! I got my mods added to my discussion boards to make them more search engine friendly. Boards still seem to be working, so I guess I did it right. It was rather tedious and involved, but I think it will be worth it. More food for the search engines!

Now I need to get some work done for my website update customer. I’ve been neglecting her due to all the extra transcription needing to be done.

Life. Isn’t it just great when it’s hectic?

Naptime and Affiliate Resources

Well, I actually have Ariel home with me for once this week. Finally got her down for a nap. With everywhere she’s been going this week, she’s been taking naps at 3 instead of 1 or so, so today she didn’t want to go down until 3. I really prefer the earlier nap, but it looks like I’ll have to work at getting it back, because she certainly wouldn’t go down at 1 today!

I added a new page to the website – yes, I do get most of my work done when I’m avoiding transcription. It’s a matter of what I personally love to do versus what I do to make an actual living. It’s just a page of resources to get started as an affiliate, an add-on to my other getting started in affiliate marketing pages.

Just Busy Stuff

Just started a new blog, as such, for my newsletter. I’ve been wanting to do that for a while.

YES, I’m procrastinating!

Ah, Work Time

This feels so weird… I get another day with Ariel out of the house so that I can work. Brent took her out to his parents because he’s going to be helping them with a patio cover. He may grumble that my need to work makes it hard for him to get things done on his day off, but that’s how it needs to be at times like this.

I didn’t do as well as I hoped yesterday, only 600 lines. Still better than most days. We had a power out that interfered a tiny bit, not 400 lines worth, but still… it knocked the cable modem out, which I don’t strictly need for transcription, but it’s my only link to my favorite internet medical transcription resources, so lacking it can put a bit of a damper on things. It was out for more than an hour. Then at about 10:30 last night, I hit a dictation that kept hanging up on me, and rather than call it in, I called it a night.
