Lots to Do Today

Going to be a busy, busy day today. Expecting a call from my customer, and Medquist wants lots of work done today. Should be interesting keeping up, but I had my husband take Ariel out for a few hours to let me work in peace. So… back to work! I’m up to 200 lines already. Maybe I can do 1000 today!

Getting the Wrong Work Done

Ok, ok I’m sitting here telling myself it’s time to get to work transcribing. Not that I’ve been lazy today or anything. Ariel’s with her grandparents today, so I have lots of work time today.

So far today I’ve researched link partners for my customer and for myself. I’ve added links, written my newsletter for distribution tomorrow and added a new opportunity to my business opportunities page. So, I’m not exactly slacking, I just need to get motivated to transcribe. It’s the start of the new pay period, so a great time to really get things moving and have a great couple weeks.

AdWords and Renaissance Fun

Whee! Got my AdWords campaign started. Just light ones so far, no more than a hundred or so keywords per ad. Yes, that is light. I’m getting some work done on a client’s website right now, so I don’t have the time right now to do my usual thousand or so keywords. I’ll get to that later; I just wanted to get things going. I’ll also be writing multiple ads for each, to determine which pulls the most customers.

Yesterday was fun. We went to the Renaissance Faire. We took Ariel’s wagon and made it into a covered wagon. We also brought her leash. Now, I know some people don’t like leashes for children, but a busy and distracting place like the Renaissance Faire is an entirely appropriate place to use a leash. A lot of people agreed with us there, complimenting us on our foresight. I heard a couple snide comments too, but Ariel’s safety is very important to me. Honestly, is a leash so different from forcing a child to ride strapped into a stroller all day? At least on a leash she can run around and look at things and play.

No Daughter, Time to Work

Ariel’s off now for a day of fun with her cousin up near Disneyland. My grandparents are in town, so my mom is taking all of them to visit my cousin. Her daughter is just three days older than Ariel, believe it or not, so they’re a good match. Too bad they live an hour and a half away.

On the plus side, I get some transcription time while my husband is at work, and we’re probably going to go see a movie or take other advantage of the time alone. Nothing like a little date when you’re parents.

Another New Site of Mine

Ok, ok, I’ve been working on it long enough, now I’ll let you see my new website. It’s called Find Credit Online, and it’s very contrary in some ways to the purpose of this website, so it has been a very interesting project. Home with the Kids generally has a lot to do with saving money, while Find Credit Online is essentially about ways to spend money and get into debt.

Now, I am not entirely against debt, that’s why I did the website. Credit cards have their place, although they are certainly subject to abuse. Home loans - don’t we all wish we could have one someday? Well, maybe if you win the lottery you won’t need one, but the rest of us probably will. Auto loans are the same deal. Who wouldn’t love to pay cash, but most of us will have to get a loan.

I also cover the less delightful side of credit - credit problems such as identity theft and when to consider debt consolidation. Just like on this website, I prefer to give a lot of advice, so there’s more to my website than just coldhearted business.

I’m fairly pleased with the design of the site. It’s almost all done using CSS. That makes the formatting so much easier I can barely believe it. It wasn’t easy, since I was not all that familiar with CSS at first, but it looks good to me now. I may even take the time one of these days to change this website over. Supposedly search engines like CSS sites better because they see more of the text rather than tags. Sounds like a good reason to me to take the time to make that change.
