Miserable Cold

Cold still going. It’s really hard to get things done right now. I have it. My husband has it. Last night Ariel finally came down with it, so now she’s coughing through the night and has barely been off my lap all day. She’s taken two naps and is feeling better now, but I’m anticipating the need to sleep with her in the recliner tonight quite possibly, as I know how much better this cough does if you just sit up a little. Or rather, how much worse it is if you lie down.

Darn Cold

I really want to be done with this cold or whatever it is. My sinuses are going nuts and I’m tired all day. Makes it hard to get anything done. It’s made me fall way, way behind on transcription, and Ariel’s out with her grandparents today, so I have to work very hard, which means staying awake, unfortunately. I just want sleep!

Made the Switch to CSS

Just finished a big change on the website - Pretty much all of the formatting is now in CSS! I tested it, and it works in all but very old browsers, so most people will be able to read it. It’s something of a different look too, but I kept some of the same elements.

Why did I do this?

With CSS, you can have one thing appear at the top of the page, but the coding for it can be at the bottom. This allowed me to place my text early in the HTML, so that hopefully search engines will like it better. I also changed from graphical buttons to CSS mouseover navigation, so no more need for the duplicate navigation at the bottom. I saved about 4K per page doing this on code alone; that’s not even considering the decreased graphics. All in all, it should speed up the site tremendously.

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Couldn’t figure out one or two things I would have liked to do, but that’s about it.

Whose Turn to Drive?

Ah!! My Discussion Board is now getting indexed by Google. I’m so glad my work in that area is paying off already. 75 pages of it in the index so far, very nice. Can’t wait for more to get in there, maybe start attracting more people to the boards.

Ariel’s being so funny these days. She keeps calling me “mom” rather than “mommy” which is really funny coming from a two year old, and she keeps insisting that I should let her drive the car. If I don’t let her play in the front seat before loading her into her car seat so we can go, she says “Mommy SHARE!” That’s about the only time I’m Mommy these days.

And here I thought I wouldn’t have to worry about driving issues until she was a teenager. Guess I was naive…
