Ahh, it’s one of my days to just work. Didn’t get much done yesterday, so it’s a great chance to get off to a great start. Ariel’s off with her grandparents, so I’m free to get things done.

Things like laundry need doing today too, unfortunately, which slows the transcription down.

But even so, my first report for the day was a long one, more than 20 minutes. I love long reports from certain doctors, and this was one of them. No time lost between reports, spell checking, etc., until the very end. Some people love long reports, some hate them, and I’m one of the ones who love them. Unless, of course, it’s one of the tough doctors.

Long reports tend to fail the usual rule of 10 transcribed lines per dictated minute. This one only came out to 150 lines. It seems to happen that way no matter who the dictator is. I think it is just because the doctor has so many more thoughts to deal with that they are less organized, and by the end they are just so tired of talking they slow down. Still, since my average speed tends to go up for long reports, it doesn’t matter that the doctor’s drops. I can just speed up the recording if I have to.
