Still Waiting…

One more month…

Until I can find out if this baby is a boy or a girl. Which is exactly what I expected. The OB said that with their equipment, he recommends waiting the extra time, even though it could be done now. Best way to get a good look. I don’t mind, it’s exactly what I had anticipated.

Rain, Rain, Came Today

Yep, we made the no-rain record.

Of course, today it’s completely different. Pouring rain is expected, possible flash flooding in areas… we’re making up for lost time. Started raining early, early this morning.

Announcing the possible flash floods caused them to use the Emergency Broadcast System, and the person running it made a little goof – they forgot to turn it off right away. Ariel was watching a little TV, and it just would not go back to the sound from her show, which really annoyed her. It lasted a minute or so on a guess, and if you’ve heard an emergency broadcast, then you know how poor the sound quality is (why?? Is their equipment that old?). Considering the extra broadcast was clearly from a call-in show, I really want to know where that show is, so I can hear how bad it is.

We Want Rain!

How dry I am
In this city
We haven’t had rain
Since April 17…

Ok, so I can’t sing. Especially online. Be glad you didn’t hear that.

Thank goodness we might get some tonight, tomorrow or Monday. If it doesn’t rain until tomorrow morning, that’s a new San Diego record. Unfortunately, the record was set just last year, so it’s almost becoming a habit.

On the business front, I’ve been getting something accomplished today, although it may not sound like much. I cleaned out one subfolder in my bookmarks. This was a big one, which I had used to get ideas when I was first starting this website. Lots of sites I looked at and wondered what made me choose them. Out of about 70-100 bookmarks, I kept fewer than 20. Also got lots of article ideas, which is a huge help.

Of course, now I need to get writing those articles. If there’s no transcription available when I try to put Ariel down for her nap/quiet time, whichever she chooses, then I’ll see if I can whip some articles out. Be nice to have some in reserve again. I used to keep 2-4 articles ahead of my newsletter, but I haven’t managed that lately.

Work, Work, Work! Never Done!

I’ve been a busy girl today.

I’ve added about 5 pages all together to my various websites. That’s a rare thing for me to manage these days, but it’s a good feeling. Add to that one trip to the store. Add to that one nasty headache to cope with, and it’s pretty darn good for one day.

Now I need to transcribe. It’s the last day of the pay period, and unlike last week when there was literally too much work available and the account was behind, this week we’ve been running out of work. Funny how that goes.

How I Began…

I finally posted the story of my start in medical transcription. It’s something of a comedy of errors, both human and computer, and more funny in retrospect than it was at the time. I’ve meant for some time to add this one, because it is truly amazing in its way just how wrong things can go.
