Article Submission

I got those articles up. It’s so nice to be caught up on that part, especially since that’s a good number of extra pages on the site that are more focused on a single topic than they were in newsletter form.

Now I need to start submitting them to databases. Great for backlinks and publicity. As I said before, I’m not doing them all in one shot; I’d rather spread it out.

Hopefully all of this will bring in more and more traffic. My numbers have increased nicely in the past year, but I really would like more… say 1000+ uniques per day. I have a good distance to go before I reach that goal, but that’s what I would like to do at the moment. Once I hit that, there will be a new goal, of course.

Small World

Just found out one of my neighbors is a medical transcriptionist too.

It’s too close to dinner to introduce myself, but definitely going to have to go over and say hi to her. You just don’t get much closer to having a coworker.

I’m finally working on updating my articles page with articles I wrote for my newsletter. I suddenly realized it had been nearly a year since I had done so! Oops.

Once that’s done, I’ll have to get busy submitting them to article databases. I think I’ll spread that out, say one or two articles a day. That should maximize my time on each for having new articles, rather than having a bunch of new articles listed then vanishing entirely as others submit their articles. Have to do what I can to encourage others to use my articles.

I never meant to get that far behind, but with all the sites I’ve developed the past several months, I suppose it’s no wonder. I always have a stack of ideas for what I’d like to do, and sometimes the basics slide on by.

I also just subscribed to several blogs via my My Yahoo page. I thought about installing a reader, but realistically I will probably only check the blogs once a day, so it may as well be when I log into My Yahoo. I’ll probably purge half of them quickly, just as I do with newsletters, but it’s a way to start.

Arrgh!

So close, yet so far…

Almost got set up to do medical transcription again. Wouldn’t it just figure, though, the foot pedal I have doesn’t work with the software. So they’re shipping one out to me on Monday, should get it Tuesday. I’d really like to get some work done before I go on maternity leave.

On the plus side, now I don’t have to feel bad about working on website things. Have to see how much I can get done in the next few days, because after that I’ll really need to get some transcription in.

Turns out the Google affiliate program is by invite only. I guess some invitee posted a link that really shouldn’t have been. I wonder how many people are going to be declined.

Google Referral Program

Interesting new offer from Google for webmasters. It should be interesting to see if it’s easy to get approved or no. It’s a referral program for AdWords and AdSense, and yes, you can refer people to both and get paid for both.

There are a few concerns about the program. #1 is that they ask for banking info on a nonsecure page. Fortunately, that is optional, so it’s not as bad of a problem as it could be.

Some people want to be paid on percentage, but I don’t think Google has any motivation to do that. Overture doesn’t, and neither does any other major PPC engine. Why should Google? Well, if they want to just overwhelm the competition it might be one way to do it, but not otherwise.

Busy

Busy, busy, busy.

I’ve been working on a new section for my jewelry website. I found the script I need, and I’ve spent the past couple days doing what I can to get it live. I still have some tweaks to do, but I’ve learned a bit more about MySQL in the process.

And, just to keep things interesting, I got the software to start doing medical transcription over my cable connection. Finally picked up my foot pedal too. So now I have even more work to keep me going.

Add all this to the fact that this baby is due in six weeks or thereabouts, and I’m keeping pretty busy. I have to, since I know I will have a lot less time after than I do right now. But I’m having a lot of fun learning more about website management in terms of PHP and MySQL. I hope to eventually have enough time to learn PHP programming, as knowing how to make your own scripts is a huge advantage.

I have so much I want to get done before this baby comes. Articles to write, so I can keep my newsletter going, pages to add to websites to help our income, so maybe I won’t have to go back to transcription, or at least not for more than a few months, new websites I’d love to launch, if I only had time to create them. Yes, this stuff is addicting for me.

We won’t even mention getting the hand-me-down baby clothes sorted or any of the other setup we still have to do before the baby is born. And no, he doesn’t have a name yet either!
