We’re having a miserable time getting Gage’s referrals for the tests he needs so that we can get his surgery scheduled. It’s very frustrating having to wait until the doctor has our insurance information, as he cannot make the referrals until then, yet this is an urgent matter. Human resources for the company Brent works for has been of no help so far, because they’re in the middle of Open Enrollment, making this the absolute worst time to need help from them. Not that they’ve been of any assistance at any time anyhow. We’ve had more problems with this job not being quite honest with us… it’s very frustrating to not be able to trust an employer.

I’m keeping a sharp eye on the mail, so that when our insurance cards come I can take Gage’s straight to the doctor’s office to help them. But it can take up to two weeks for them to arrive, and we were originally supposed to have things going this week. I’m really furious with the situation - after all, we’re talking about my son’s health and future here.

I’m trying to keep busy, of course, since there is very, very little I can do. I’m transcribing a bit again, as well as doing website work. Anything to keep busy. Fortunately, my website income is up, so if it continues, I might be able to quit medical transcription around the time Gage is likely to have his surgery. That would be ideal, since it would give me more time to cope with his recovery and followup appointments.

I’m getting very tired of dealing with all these problems, but I know once they’re solved I will feel a lot better and quickly forget the stress. But until then I’m going slightly nuts.
