What a Pop Up Book!

Just have to tell you about the pop up book my daughter got for Christmas. I only allow her to read it under supervision right now because it’s quite clear it isn’t going to last long if she gets to play with it.

Part of that is just her history with pop up books. All the ones she have have been pretty badly damaged. But this one is just so beautiful!

It’s called One Red Dot, and the work inside it is just amazing. The cover is quite plan, and it is in part a counting book. The reader is also supposed to find the red dot, however, and there is the delight.

The pop ups are not so basic as you might expect. My personal favorite is the “eight obedient orbs” - there’s really something to se. It’s amazing how they can fold such amazing things into a book.

It does feel strange to tell my daughter she can’t read one of her books freely. Every other book she owns she can pull off the shelf any time and enjoy. I just accept the damage. But this one is just amazing visually but clearly not up to abuse as well, so it goes on MY shelves. We still read it regularly and on demand.

Happy New Year

OK, so I’m a day late. No, I was not hung over, as I don’t drink. New Year’s Day was my husband’s day off work, so we did things as a family, then I came home and took a nap. What can I say? I’m just not so good at late nights anymore. It would help, of course, if Gage would sleep through and then not get up at 6:30 in the morning.

I have so many things I want to achieve in this year. I achieved my main goal last year, which was to quit medical transcription and work full time on my sites. Got that one rather earlier than I had expected, as it happened in early March, just shortly after my son was born.

I don’t expect to get this year’s goals so easily, but I’d obviously be delighted if it happens. Basically, I want to get more sites earning well for me. It’s not an easy process, but it’s one I enjoy working on.
