Easter Purse Craft

Ok, so this one was Ariel’s idea, even though she’s very stubborn about using scissors well. She was playing wit one of her purses and decided she wanted to make one, so I drew out a U-shape on two pieces of paper and told her to cut them out. We glued them together, leaving the tops open. Staples probably would work too. Then she painted one side because she didn’t feel like using crayons.

Once the paint is dry (might take a week, with how much paint she smeared on it, LOL), we’ll glue a handle onto it, and she’ll have her Easter purse.

No picture of this one… as I said above, she doesn’t like to cut paper following a line, so it’s quite a mess. Besides, the paint is still drying. Just thought I’d post in case anyone is looking for another Easter craft.

Little Easter Basket

Had a little fun with Ariel today. We made Easter Baskets. Not the big store bought ones, but a little one for her to play with. She’s so anxious for Easter to get here.

These are very easy to make. I used one of those baskets you buy strawberries in, colored paper, a pipe cleaner and glue.

Cut the paper into strips that will fit through the holes in the strawberry basket. Weave the strips in and out, gluing the ends together as needed. Put the ends of the pipe cleaner through the basket around the middle to form a handle. You can twist the pipe cleaner around itself to hold the handle to the basket.

If you don’t have pipe cleaners, I would expect that you could make the handle from paper too. Just cut a long enough piece and glue it in place.

Here’s a picture of one we made. We actually did two - one for Ariel, one for Gage.

Cleanup Day!

No, not exactly spring cleaning. Wednesdays are just my main cleanup day because that’s when Ariel is with her grandparents, so Gage has no one else to distract him. Just about the only time I get onto the computer is times like now, when he’s napping.

But I do get a lot done at these times. Those parts of keeping up with the house that slip the rest of the time can get done today. I’ve gone through Ariel’s clothes to figure out which don’t fit her anymore (definitely best done when she doesn’t know about it!), and I’m about halfway through Gage’s.

I’m far from a great housekeeper, but days like this let me get the house clean enough to want to try to avoid such messes in the future. Since I’m not the only one making them messes, of course, it doesn’t last long. Maybe someday I’ll get my husband and the kids trained to clean their stuff up a little better.

Naptimes are when I get a lot of work done online. I’m working on one of my other sites which I had fallen behind on. With luck I’ll get at least 90% caught up on it.

The Romantic Side of Google

I always knew there was a softer side to search engines. Now Google has started Google Romance, a new dating service. Not exactly what I’d expect, but thinking about it, there is a certain logic to it.
