It’s Ariel’s birthday today and I’m still working on planning her party. Of course, that isn’t until Sunday, but I feel like I’m way behind on these things.
Fortunately, the kind of birthday party I generally do doesn’t require much planning, aside from invitations and buying supplies. I meant to get the invitations out last week to her classmates, but Tuesday I forgot, and Thursday I stayed home with a smashed toe while my mother-in-law took Ariel on her class field trip. Those are the only two days a week her class meets, so today is my best chance to get those done! Fortunately, I have talked to some of the moms about her party, so they do know it’s coming.
We’ve decided to do the party at home, since we don’t have the time to research whether or not the local park needs reservations - besides, hauling everything to the park is a lot of extra work.
No bouncy rental for us! Those are really popular these days, but I think kids do just fine at a party without one. We will turn on the bubble blowing machine, though. That one tends to go over very well.
I’m making the cake myself again. Ariel chose (surprise, surprise) strawberry cake and icing. After all, they’re pink and that is very much her favorite color. I just think it’s a lot of fun to do that with her.
Now we just have to get the house ready for company!
