This is one of those updates I’ve been promising myself I’d get done for ages. I finally did it!

There are about twice as many pages now in the medical transcription section and a lot more information about getting into medical transcription. It’s one of those work at home jobs that really takes some effort to get into, and if you know what you’re doing you really improve your odds of success.

There’s still some areas I need to research for that section. I want to include some information on how HIPPA impacts work at home medical transcriptionists as well as information on deciding whether to work for a medical transcription service or to go the independent business route.

It’s going to take some research for each of those, and there are plenty of other topics I can write on in that area. This isn’t something I can easily do for every work at home job, but since I worked as a medical transcriptionist for three years I have a pretty good understanding of it, I think.

I’ll probably also take a look at issues such as outsourcing, which are having a real impact on the industry. There are so many possible topics, and only so much time I can devote at once.
