Just wandering around the internet as I try not to doze off when I came across this eye-opener. This poor mother found out the hard way that the Scotchbrite Easy Eraser can cause chemical burns on the skin. Her poor son found that out for her.

Now, I’ve never used these myself, and I’m really glad of it right now. My 20 month old son just now finished cleaning up a spill of milk with paper towels. He loves to clean, and if we had those, he would probably have tried to use one himself. He only cares about his messes, though, not what anyone else does.

It looks like an easy mistake for parents to make. Ingredients aren’t listed, although there is a warning not to ingest them. But apparently not about burns.

I know this much… I’m not going to buy one of those now. I think if I need to clean scuff marks or whatever else I can cope without. I buy washable crayons and markers, so that problem isn’t too likely. Buying those strikes me as much more sensible than buying one of the erasers now.
