I’ve been having regular problems on my forum lately with spam registrations. Some post, others just make a profile with their website in it in hopes of traffic. It’s annoying because they have so clearly learned to bypass the default CAPTCHA that comes with phpBB.

I picked out a mod that puts in a different CAPTCHA. This one asks you to answer a question, so at least for now should be harder for the bots to handle.

I can hardly wait to see how this goes. I’ve been getting at least 5-6 spam registrations and/or posts a day. Be nice to see that number go away.

This should not effect people who are already registered. The challenge comes only at registration. I don’t want to inconvenience people once they are a part of the forum, after all.
