For me, Valentine’s Day will probably be just another day. Why?

Because my husband and I got smart. No, we aren’t skipping the holiday entirely; instead we celebrated on Monday. The kids were at the grandparents’ house, so no worry about babysitters, and the restaurant was uncrowded.

It turned out to be the perfect date for a tight budget, although a part of that was luck. We knew a local casino was running a special where members got a free meal at the buffet. So we signed both of us up, and dinner was free.

Then I gave my husband permission to gamble up to $20. He did, and ended up winning an additional $30.

Yes, we came home with more than we left with. Just an ideal date, I must say!
