Last week was one of those really crazy weeks. Just so much going on. I’m glad to be finally having a quieter week.

But it means I got a lot of important things done. And I finished it off my completing Ariel’s kindergarten registration this morning. Can she really be old enough for that now?

Busy times like this are of course just a part of being a parent, whether you work at home or outside the home. Sometimes everything has to be done at once. I suppose if I worked at home I would have made an effort to have all the various appointments on a single day, rather than spread across three different days. But I didn’t have to.

But the weekend was fun busy stuff. Renaissance Faire on Saturday, Mother’s Day picnic on Sunday. Both kept me from working, but I’m sure not complaining.

in the stocks

The Ren Faire was a blast, even if we practically had to hose Ariel off after. She just had too much fun playing in the dirt. A little time in the stocks took care of that, LOL.

The Mother’s Day picnic was fun. Lots of family, lots of kids. Ariel has a couple cousins near her age on that side of the family. We go out to the bay to a grassy park in the area. The kids just play together… not in the water, the water looks filthy. But they have a lot of fun on the grass and at the playground.

But the kids really had fun with a couple of rather friendly ducks. These ducks were very demanding about any food they saw, even nibbling on some beads on my sandals a couple times. They came straight up, just inches away, and willing to take food from hands. The kids both loved this and were intimidated by this. Ducks move pretty fast.

And now I’m trying to recover from all that. It’s hard when you work at home, because even when you’re taking time off to have fun you’re thinking about what you would like to get done, if not at the time then afterward when you might be behind your usual schedule.

But it’s also quite refreshing. That was two days I scarcely so much as touched a computer. Checked the beach weather on Sunday morning, that’s all.
