I posted about two weeks ago about how unnerving it can be to get calls from your child’s school about threatening notes in the bathroom. Well, that didn’t happen today.
Nope.
This time it was a letter sent home with all the parents. Seems someone wrote on the bathroom walls at the elementary school where my daughter’s preschool is that there would be a shooting there.
These copycats are just really annoying. Doesn’t matter that I know they are mere copycats and nothing serious, it’s annoying that the schools and the police have to waste resources on these things. The schools have to have extra security, and the kids aren’t allowed to stay and play on the playground after school anymore.
That this could happen even at the elementary level just really angered all the parents in my daughter’s class. The general feeling is that this is an older child, probably with older siblings to give him or her the idea. It is also generally agreed that the parents need to do something if they find out that it was their child, so that they understand the severity. Tour of juvenile hall, etc.
I am quite glad that none of these threats has been serious or credible, but getting the constant reminders is really annoying.

That’s annoying indeed. But sometimes the worst come when we least expect it. It’s better if the school and the police hurry with their investigation to stop this kind of nonsense or whatever it is.
I quite agree. Frustrating as it is, I love seeing them take it all so seriously.
Even if they are just being fair about it for the sake of other mothers, it’s still annoying to know that they don’t have the capability of solving a small problem without involving too many people on the process.
