School, that is. My daughter has one more day of preschool left. Then she’s done for the summer.
Her class had its promotion party today because some of the parents have older kids whose promotion ceremonies are on Wednesday, which is the last day of class. The teacher wanted to make sure that it would be easy for everyone to attend.
It was cute. The teacher sprinkled “magic dust” on eacy of the kids heads and told them that they were now kindergarteners. One kid just started crying. I’m sure he’ll be fine with the idea by the fall.
We’ve been working on figuring out which classmates will be available during the summer for play dates. Ariel has a habit right now of standing around the front of the school as the rest of her classmates leave and asking them if they can come over to play. I’ve explained to her that these things take more planning, and she’s starting to understand that she should ask about other days too.
I’m determined to enjoy the summer with my kids. It’s easy to complain about the loss of productivity and so forth, but it’s also the time of year that we have the greatest flexibility to plan things. No worry about whether or not it’s a school night.
