My son is 2 and very clingy. He’s always finding reasons for me to come with him, or “pum” as he pronounces it. It’s cute much of the time, exhausting other times.

1. “Tuck, Tuuuuck!” Also known as there’s the garbage truck driving down the block. Which he must watch. With Mommy. He also points out every truck we pass when we’re in the car.
2. “Nack?” He wants a snack. For all that he’s a really skinny kid, he sure loves to eat.
3. He’s done with his snack. Sometimes I can get him to throw out his own trash, but other times he needs Mommy to do it.
4. “Nana.” He wants a banana.
5. He just finished a banana and wants me to throw the peel onto the rose bushes.
6. “Poop.” Need I say more?
7. “Buh-die?” His sister’s mouse. He pays quite a bit of attention to it and loves to feed it treats. Since the treats are out of his reach, he needs my help. He considers it his buddy, although its acual name is Gus.
8. “Ball, baallll!” He loves to play catch.
9. “Shoe.” Wants his shoes on so he can go play outside.
10. “Ga-ga!” He thinks Daddy is home. He can make “d” sounds, but he doesn’t us it when he tries to say “da-da”.
11. “Pey.” Playtime!
12. “Uh, uhhh!” He spilled something he doesn’t want to clean up himself. But there will be no peace until the mess is gone. He cannot stand seeing a mess on the floor, provided he made it. Anyone else makes a mess, no problem.
13. “Dink.” He wants a drink.

It’s so nice having him talk at last, and the things he says can be interesting. I get most of these several times a day, with the “tuck” one being only on garbage day, of course. That one is three times, minimum on that day, as we have the garbage truck, recycleable good truck and yard waste truck.
