These are some great tips! I also wanted to add something that anyone looking at work-at-home jobs should be aware of: Never, never PAY MONEY to become an "employee" for some company.

Before I got into freelance writing, I was looking at other ways to make money from home. One of the major avenues out there is medical transcription, and while there are a lot of legitimate firms, the field is full of scam artists as well.

I would respond to job ads only to learn that the company expected me to purchase $400 worth of special software and equipment before I could do any work for them.

If you see anything like that, RUN the other way!!
