Just got back home from a trip to visit my dad. I spent as little time as possible online, although less than I had intended. I had been planning on helping my dad get his site up and running, after all.
It was a nice trip. Spent a few hours at the Children’s Discovery Museum in San Jose, and a day in San Franscisco. Lots of time with my dad and stepmom. They see my kids very rarely, but they are talking about taking a longer trip to visit the various grandkids soon. Sure would be nice.

For my daughter the big hit was my dad’s 11-inch telescope. She does adore looking through it, although sometimes she got frustrated trying. Or maybe it was the combination of too much sugar and an hour and a half past her usual bedtime that really did her in.
Gage did well getting to know everyone. He’s such a shy kid, and it takes time for him to warm up to people. But he did get to where he was playing with everyone, and that helped a lot.
The driving was kind of hard on everyone. Each way took about 9 hours, on a trip that could have taken less than 7. That is just how it goes driving with kids during the daytime hours. Plus having to go through Los Angeles, and there’s no such thing as a good time for that. You can get a massive traffic jam at 3 in the morning (yes, had it happen personally), but we did pretty well going through there starting at about 3 in the afternoon. I’ve seen much, much worse.
