But the fires have still kept it a busy night. I napped for 3 hours and now I have to be up again because the news is not too good.

Let’s see… the I-15 is closed not that far from my inlaws’ house because the fire might try to go under the bridge at Lake Hodges. There’s a new fire in San Marcos not far from where I lived there 3 years ago. And you would not believe the winds.

I’m really hoping that we can stay here at least until sometime after sunrise. My understanding is that the fire went south somewhere behind us. No glow over the hills that we can see, though, so we can’t be in too bad of shape here yet.

We fully expect to evacuate. I hope we can anticipate the mandatory evacuation and get out ahead of the crowds. The cars are mostly packed, enough so that when the kids get up we’re getting more of their clothes loaded up. But obviously we want them to sleep well because it’s going to be a long, possibly scary day.
