That pretty much says it. There’s a fire a ways north and east of us, but we have Santa Ana winds blowing something fierce right now, and I know from the 2003 fires that it can easily spread this far due to the kind of winds we’re having.

The fire I’m watching is the Santa Ysabel fire, although I heard them say something on the radio about one near the Ramona Airport, which I’m not finding online reports of just now. Maybe it’s the same, I don’t know, although I wouldn’t think the Ramona Airport is near enough to Santa Ysabel, where the fire is currently reported at 100 acres.

Fortunately, I found a website to keep me up to date on what’s happening. The site is utterly swamped right now, doubtless from all the people nearer to the fires (there’s another to the south and east, but further away).

We’re really smoky here, and I’m debating just going to my mother’s house for the evening. I’m trying to get Gage to take his nap, though. The house isn’t smoky inside, although outside my throat quickly gets scratchy.

Here’s hoping this is nowhere near so bad as the 2003 fires, and my prayers to those who are more immediately impacted by these fires.
