Sold my cars, bought a bicycle, a pressure canner, a small freezer, a 2nd hand computer with free 'Ubuntu' software from web, grew a garden, sealed all the drafts in the house, closed off unused rooms, buy everything recycled, reading material and music comes from local library, shop for groceries on 'Bargain' days, eat less meat using creative recipes, go to church for social life, never eat out, not even a coffee.
Have time for photography, gardening, cooking, walks on the docks, pets, children, grandchildren, chatting with neighbors, wife, computing, snoozing, sunbathing, swimming, fishing, cycling.
Although my income is lower than ever before, I have money left to put in the bank at the end of the month.

I also use the electric over as little as possible. Try switching to 110 appliances instead of 220. You can save a lot of electric by doing this.Rosemary

I have very long hair, so when it needs to be washed, it takes a while. And of course the water just feels good.

The shower one is most decidedly a tough one for me too. We have basic cable but even that might be too much, since we watch so little TV anyway.Agree with many other tips - these are great! - but the shower thing... that's hard. I want to take shorter showers from a green point of view as well as for saving, but once I'm in the shower, I just can't seem to get out.

I COMPLETELY agree with the television tip.
