If you're going to talk about whether or not it's safe today, consider that crime rates in general as well against children are down to the levels of 1970. If you ran around as a kid, it's probably safe to let your kids to the same.That depends some on the kind of area you live in, as I will certainly agree that some places are less safe than others. There's the matter of age appropriateness too. But the sheer fear many parents have now of letting even older kids do the things they themselves did at a particular age is borne of the media, not from things being less safe now. I went to have a look and must say that whilst I agree with her, in today's and age it isn't always safe to have your kids running around like she advocates.
