Isn’t motherhood grand! We’ve been having quite the time getting Selene to sleep through the night to even a reasonable degree lately.
And by reasonable I mean more than 1-2 hours between wakeups.
Ever since everyone other than me and Selene got sick, she’s been waking up like that, all night long. It’s insane. Especially since trying to have my husband comfort her only rarely works. It’s Mommy or she stays awake. Let Daddy try too long and she stays up for Mommy too.
All this is making it really hard to be productive. Some of my best work times are when she’s napping. But just now I need the nap too.
Of course, she’s so darn cute I can’t stay mad at her, no matter how tired I get.
I’m going to try cutting her nap short today. She’s been napping 3-4 hours easy during the day – no fair that she sleeps a longer stretch during the day than she does at night! I just need to see if she’s napping too long.
In the meantime, I think my husband’s going to have to take a lot more parenting duties in the the evenings while the kids are awake to help me out. There’s way too much stuff I need, need, NEED to get done online. His job as much as mine when he’s home, no matter what the kids think.

Yep. Cut out the naps. That’s rule no. 1.
The problem here is, that means you’ll have to devote keep-em-busy time during what would have been naptime.
In other words, you can’t win.
So true! Today was exhausting dealing with her. Although she did cut her own nap short, just an hour and a half versus the 3-4 hours she had been doing. That used to be perfect for her but now it’s too much.
And I really missed the working time. Resisting the temptation to stay up late to make up for it.
I hate it that I’ll be on the phone on the other side of the house and my kids will leave the room that they were IN with their father just to come and interrupt my conversation to ask me if they can have a cookie.
Yes, that’s just so typical of kids.
