Who's Going to BlogWorld Expo This Year?

Not me, sigh.

Join the top bloggers and new media experts in the world at BlogWorld Expo 2009 Just not up to dealing with what it would take to have someone else care for the baby during that time. She doesn’t take a bottle well still, and while by the time BlogWorld actually starts I expect her to be eating some solids, this just isn’t a year I feel will work for me.

Pity, because last year was a blast. Very much worth my time and money.

The cheapest passes are gone already, making me wish I had noticed this sooner. But you can still get passes at a good price, as full price doesn’t hit until September 14, 2009.

I had a blast going to sessions and meeting other bloggers in person that I had only known online before. Admittedly it was a pretty tiring experience for me, since I was pregnant with Selene at the time. But fun, very, very fun and educational.

Now is a great time to register if you know you can make it, so you can also get your rooms reserved, maybe find a roommate if you want to save money, and get travel plans made. Best to do that early most of the time!

So… anyone going? I promise I’ll be jealous. ;)

Got My BlogWorld Reservations!

I’m just delighted. My husband managed to get the approval for time off to join me on this trip, so we’re going. It’s pretty exciting, especially with his new job and all. We really weren’t sure he’d be able to get the time off.

It took me a bit longer than I hoped to find out if he’d be coming, because the first day on the job he forgot to ask. Second day they were touring a cruise ship. So today he asked and got approval.

Rather approving approval, it seems. His boss very much approves of his employees traveling, being in the travel business and all, and liked that it was for my business. Probably gives a good impression of being willing to really push for success or something, I don’t know.

My husband did keep trying to talk me into the more expensive hotel rooms, but I pointed out that tight as our budget is, we’re really pushing things taking this trip. But I figure it should pay off in the long run, with the networking and information I hope to get there.

We even have my mother set to watch the kids for the weekend.

I’m really delighted to get to share this trip with my husband, even if I don’t know how much time I’ll have to spend with him. He’s not sure if he wants into the exhibit halls or not. He may just go enjoy being in Vegas. I told him that so long as he tells me his preference by August 22 we’ll be fine.

I'm Going to BlogWorld?

So it appears, anyhow. My husband and I have had a lot of discussions about it, or rather the cost of attending, and he’s finally convinced that it will be worth the money.

For an online marketing expo it’s really not badly priced, but coming fresh off his job loss it’s a bit hard to take the expense casually.

The one remaining question appears to be…

Can he come along?

That, of course, depends on the new job. BlogWorld is on the weekend of September 20, 2008, and his new job does include weekends. But he’s going to just ask and see. It happens or not.

The logic for us is that it won’t cost us much more to have him come along. Las Vegas is not too bad in terms of driving distance, and I would have to rent a car to go there on my own, as we only have the one. If he comes along then he’s not using the car for work, and so we can take our car. The cost then just becomes him keeping it reasonable on entertainment and food.

That’s not too bad an added cost for a nice vacation for he and I together.

So today I’m waiting for him to come home and see what they say. It’s never fun to ask a new job right off for consideration on the schedule, but it wouldn’t require any actual extra time off, at least.

I’m looking forward to meeting a lot of interesting people there, and of course if you’re going let me know and we can see if we want to meet up.
