Phonics Fun

Phonics is a great way to help your child learn to read. You can go with popular programs such as Hooked on Phonics, or you can choose one of the other games below, depending on what you think will best meet the needs of your child.

Of course, reading and spelling skills in general can be learned through classic games such as Scrabble, although I've enjoyed a variant called UpWords, where you can stack letters on top of other words, changing the game constantly. It adds creativity and strategy to the basic idea of Scrabble.

Playing such games, of course, is only a part of how you want to help your children improve their spelling and reading skills. To really improve their skills, you need to have them work at it. That doesn't mean they can't have fun. Many of the programs out there to help children improve their phonics and reading skills are also quite entertaining.

Let's start by taking a look at what each game or program has to offer.

Hooked on Phonics®

The HoP program has the best track record and is certainly the best known phonics program out there. It guarantees results in four weeks. It offers a variety of programs

Hooked on Phonics® is a great way to help your child succeed in school and learn to love reading.
