Preschoolers are full of curiosity and are lots of fun. You never know what they're going to think of next. The world is their toy box, whether it's your kitchen utensils to empty boxes to the toys you actually bought for them. They learn from the world around them, and it's up to you to help them.
One of the best things you can do with your preschooler is to play with them. All preschoolers love puppets, for example, and you can act out great stories with them.
Although no one recommends that you use the television as a babysitter, it can be used in ways that will help your child to learn. My daughter learned her alphabet by the time she was two years old for example, not by my pushing her to learn it, but because her favorite video, Leap Frog's Letter Factory emphasized the alphabet in a way that she found very easy to learn from.
Preschoolers learn quite a bit from simple games. They learn about taking turns, winning and losing, and following rules. My daughter, at three years of age, doesn't have the patience yet for board games, but she enjoys playing with the pieces. I expect that over the next few months, of course, she will start learning the rules of Chutes and Ladders, her only board game so far, and then get interested in other games.
Now lets take a look at some of the educational toys you can find at smaller stores across the internet. I love the smaller shops because they can offer a much more interesting range of toys and games.
