Books can be pretty challenging to pick out unless you know the recipient's taste in books. With a little thought towards what they like, you can find a perfect book for just about anyone and not spend a fortune doing it.
Obviously, there are more wonderful books out there than I can take the time to recommend here.
Jim Cramer's Real Money: Sane Investing in an Insane World - For the budding or experienced investor in your life.
Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap... and Others Don't - A look at how companies are run and go from being good companies to great ones.
Freakonomics [Revised and Expanded]: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything - This one was hot last year and the revised and expanded version came out in October 2006.
Now, Discover Your Strengths - You need to know what you're good at and how to best take advantage of your strengths.
The End (A Series of Unfortunate Events, Book 13) - If you have any Lemony Snickets fans in the family, this one is a must!
The Very Hungry Caterpillar board book - A great choice for the kids. My daughter loves this book, and was soon reciting it as she flipped through the pages on her own. A year later she still loves it.
Pirateology: The Pirate Hunter's Companion (Ologies) - For the child in your life who loves pirates.
Rachael Ray 365: No Repeats--A Year of Deliciously Different Dinners (A 30-Minute Meal Cookbook) - Some people love her, others can't stand her, but you have to admit the idea of quickly prepared dinners is appealing.
Molto Italiano : 327 Simple Italian Recipes to Cook at Home - This one might be fun for fans of Iron Chef America, as the author is on that show. Nothing to do with the show other than that.
The America's Test Kitchen Family Cookbook: Featuring More Than 1,200 Kitchen-Tested Recipes - A great reference, and useful even for inexperienced cooks.
