MP3

iPods - It's easy to take your music wherever you go with an iPod. These are not only some of the hottest electronics around, there are all kinds of great accessories, so you can play the music just for yourself or for a crowd.

Zune 30 GB Digital Media Player (Black) - Microsoft's entry into the MP3 player fray. Overall a very good machine; you just have to decide if a Zune, an iPod or some other brand is what you want.

Portable DVD Players

Coby TF-DVD7107 7" TFT Portable DVD Player - Mobile DVD players have become quite affordable, and they're marvelous on long trips.

Toshiba SD-P1700 Portable DVD Player with 7" Widescreen LCD - A bit more money, but still quite reasonable, and going by reviews appears to be one of the better ones easily available just now.

TiVo

TiVo TCD648250B Series3 HD Digital Media Recorder - There are a few considerations for if you want Series 2 or Series 3 with a TiVo. If you need Kidzone (great for parents), stick with Series2. If you want to get cable cards and ditch your cable box, get Series3. This particular model also offers two tuners, so you can watch one show and record another or record two shows at once.

TiVo TCD649180 Series2 180 Hour Dual Tuner Digital Video Recorder - A nice option in the Series2 collection. I can't imagine buying a TiVo without dual tuners.

Video Games

As you know, lots of new game systems came out this year, causing fans to just go wild. I'd recommend one, but since many are only available at outrageous prices on eBay, I'm not going to get into that just now. Give the kids a raincheck if they really want one and teach some patience. The systems will be available at normal prices in a few months.

And if you're tired of buying so many video games, only to have to start over when the next console comes out, why not rent? You'll be able to provide your kids with a better selection of games with less trouble. Start your Free Trial with GameFly now!
