While playing outside is important, there are a lot of fun things to do with your kids inside too. There's reading, playing games, doing puzzles, make-believe and so much more. Sometimes the hardest part is keeping up with the imagination of your child.
One advantage of indoor play is there's less worry about where the kids are. You know they're in the house, so you just have to be sure they aren't getting into things they shouldn't. If your house appropriately childproofed for the ages of your children, that shouldn't be much of a problem.
Playing inside gives a child many chances to use his or her imagination. Even if they're making a fort out of your couch cushions, they're using their imaginations.
One of the most difficult things about having the kids play inside is keeping control of the mess. Remember to set limits on how many toys they can have out at a time and make it easy for the kids to clean up. A little planning goes a long way.
Don't forget to have fun yourself! Take a break from working on your home business, job or cleaning the house and join in the fun. I like to surprise my daughter once in a while by pulling the cookie dough out of the freezer and making cookies with her. Little moments add up fast, and while you may not get as much work done, you might just feel better about how your day went.
Along with the indoor toys, remember to have plenty of books available for your kids to read. Even children too young to read love to look at the pictures, and sometimes they'll make up their own stories, which can be very fun to listen to.
