Eating Out with the Kids

Depending on how your kids behave, just the thought of eating out may sound like too much trouble. If you have younger children you have to get high chairs or booster seats. Kids can get bored waiting for food, and not all restaurants are family-friendly in that they provide the kids with something to do or at least tolerate how children naturally behave.

As always, you have to be prepared for whatever your kids may throw at you - hopefully that doesn't include food! You need to be able to find foods that your kids will eat, and you need to keep your child clean.

Of course, eating out doesn't just mean at restaurants. You need to carry snacks for at the playground or when running errands, and many other times.

Some ages are harder to feed than others. Babies who are breastfed are assured of food so long as mommy is around. Formula fed babies are fairly easy to feed too - just keep the supplies on hand. It gets harder as kids start to eat solid foods. Those little jars and spoons can make quite a mess. As they get older you can try a food grinder, which my daughter loved, others do not like the results of grinders and prefer the pureed foods from the jars. But if the food grinder works, it's great for letting your child eat more or less what you eat.
