Getting Started in Home Business

For pretty much any home business, there are many things you will need. From taking care of legalities to basic supplies to creating your website (and you can do it yourself!), make sure you have the right supplies.

Legal resources

IRS links to state requirements for small businesses - find out if you need a business license, seller's permit or any other licensing in your area.

Also go to your city hall to find out about getting a DBA (Doing Business As) or business license if applicable. If you are not using your own name, you will generally need a DBA, and you may or may not need a business license, depending on your area. Always check. It doesn't cost much in most areas to get a business license, but penalties for not having one can be harsh, even $100s per DAY.
