Time and Money and Kids and Chores

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

Moved the site again - don't worry, it's not becoming a habit or anything. It's just that I found out Dreamhost had limitations that are okay with most of my sites, but not with this one, another host booted me because I had a script on one of the sites I put on them go utterly bonkers and eat up 6 Gig of bandwidth in about 12 hours. I have no idea how - it's never done that before and is behaving perfectly now. Wasn't this site, it was another one. So I switched to Site5. (read more)

Working at Home When You Have Very Little Time or Money

Two of the major complaints people have about trying to work at home are that too many opportunities cost too much money and that they don’t have enough time. They are both very valid complaints, and should be one of the first things you recognize when you decide to work at home; working at home requires some sacrifice. (read more)

Kids And Chores - Make It Easy On Yourself!

My neighbours' kid impressed me the other day.

I was busy painting the backyard fence, when their ten-year old son came out with the vacuum cleaner. He opened the front panel, removed the bag, and put it in the bin. Then he took a replacement bag, fitted it, and went back indoors - probably to get on with the vacuum cleaning! (read more)

Saving for retirement and back to school

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

Have your kids started school yet? Ariel starts preschool at the end of the month. She's only going 3 hours a day, two days a week since she's only 3 years old. I'm more or less looking forward to it (don't I sound enthusiastic?). It means more working time for me.

Check out the discussion boards in the Family Friendly Freebies section this week. There's an offer for a free child abduction video; you just pay shipping, which is $4.95 for the default option. The offer goes through September. This is an important topic yet one that can be difficult to discuss clearly with children. (read more)

Why Women Should Worry About Retirement More Than Men

Women earn an average of 76 percent of men’s salaries. Does that shock you? Yes, even in 2005, women are still way behind the earning curve in corporate America. But rather than get into a discussion of the fairness or unfairness of it all, let’s concentrate on just what women can do to ensure that they aren’t left out to dry in their retirement age! How To Have A Happy And Healthy Back To School

It's the time of the year that most kids have been avoiding; Back To School!

Going back to school can make some kids anxious. Some are starting kindergarten and others are transitioning from elementary to middle school or from middle school to high school. Help your child keep things in perspective by helping them to realize that this new experience is exciting. Encourage them to have a positive attitude about the experience. Back to school can be frustrating and stressful due to poor time management, organizational and communication skills. Start off the school year by leading by example. Set the standards for a responsible, independent, and successful child by living by the core life values you want to instill in your child. Family management and understanding your kids

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

Network marketing and reading to the kids

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

This week is off to a fun and hectic start. I spent yesterday at my mother's because she had my two nieces who are within a year on each side of Ariel's age there. The girls made cookies. Today we're going to the Natural History Museum because they're free the first Tuesday of each month. Maybe Wednesday I'll have some time to myself again. (read more)
