Working Out and Driving Traffic

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

Phew! This is going to be one of those weeks where I'm almost exhausted just from looking at my schedule. I'm helping out in Ariel's class Tuesday, going with her class on a field trip on Thursday, and starting a "Math and Science Together" class with her on Saturday. Thank goodness I can register her online for this summer's swimming lessons online; that's on Tuesday too. Could be worse, certainly, but since that's on top of my regular working schedule... well, let's face it, I'll get a bit less work done this week.

Working Out Is Not Like Doing Your Taxes

It comes once a year and it always seems to get put off until the last minute. You swear that you will never do it again, but alas, it is the last minute tax crunch. Unfortunately, working out is not like taxes. It is not something that you can get away with cramming in at the last minute and only focus on once a year.

Home Office and Selling Like a Girl

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

Did you survive tax season? I'm just glad it's done and over with. We owed a little, so we delayed filing until Sunday night. Gotta love Turbo Tax; so much easier than trying to do the paperwork on our own.

Sell Like a Girl, Or What a 12-year-old Can Teach You About Sales

Yup, it's Girl Scout Cookie time in our part of the world. [And, yes, my English teacher DID tell me never to start a sentence with the word "Yup."] For those of you who are unfamiliar with the sights, tastes, and overall experience of helping your daughters sell Thin Mints, Samoas, and Do-Si-Do's, you're missing a fundamental and wide-ranging education about the dynamics of sales, selling, and salespeople.

Recalls and Copywriting

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

I've just started some serious work on rearranging things on this site. It will probably take a few weeks to finish it, but I hope to have things a little more organized around here.

Do You Have Recalled Items in Your Home?

All too often, you hear about a product on the news that has been recalled by its manufacturer because it has been shown to be unsafe. It could be a problem with a particular model of car, a child’s toy or even food. Unfortunately, it is also quite easy to miss hearing about recalled items.

Kids, Money, and What Do You Know?

The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter

Anyone else enjoy a good Renaissance Faire? My family does, and we went to a small one this past weekend. Yes, in Renaissance garb.

Teaching Your Kids About Money

Children aren’t born with an understanding of how money works; all parents learn that one quickly. A young child sees the things they want or need just appear from Mommy and Daddy. The fact that Mommy or Daddy gave money to the sales clerk means nothing to them. So how do you teach your kids about money?

What the heck do you know anyways?

I've learned that no matter who you are and what you do, there will always be someone who thinks you don't know what you're doing.
