Parenting can be funny, exciting, boring, thrilling, challenging, confusing, satisfying, uplifting, maddening, frustrating, unreasonable, exhausting, silly, and more.
Because of that fact, sometimes, as a parent, you just need a break.

Reading with the Kids
The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter
I had quite the interesting weekend. I took one of my mom's cats up to live with my sister on Saturday. The original plan had been to go to her apartment, but circumstances made us decide to meet in Burbank instead.
You see, to get to the apartment I would have had to take Interstate 5 to the 14. For those who watched the news over the weekend, yes, right by where that big accident had been on Friday night. I think you can see why it was decided to allow someone more familiar with the area to find a way around that mess.

Games and Your Kids
The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter
Things are steadily getting more or less normal around here. I get to do bits of volunteering in my daughter's class now, including bringing Gage along, which is what makes the volunteering possible. It's pretty simple, just reading with the kids and obviously I think that's good for Gage too.

Parenting 101: How Can Traditional Games Benefit Your Child?
For the past few years, I've talked to parents complaining about their kids and their online or computer habits.

Teaching Kids to Share
The Editor's Desk - From Beneath the Clutter
I survived a crazy weekend. I watched two dogs.
Really it went pretty well. I think it was even good for Gage, who finally realized he could tell the dogs "no" and give them commands. That said, we went to my mother's house last night, and he'd forgotten all about it, and was intimidated a bit by the size of her dog again, even though said dog is a total sweetheart and one of the dogs we had been watching.

Step Up To The Plate And Teach Your Child To Share!
When 5 year old Noah is asked if he likes to share his toys, he honestly answers, "No." When probed a little further Noah explains, "My toys are cool but when I get done with them, when I get tired of them I will share." When asked what he does if he wants a toy that another child is using, he says, "I just wait until they are done with it."
