Who's running this website anyway?

So glad you asked. My name, in case you've missed it, is Stephanie Foster. I used to be a medical transcriptionist and I run this and a couple of other websites.

Stephanie Foster

I graduated from Gompers Secondary School in 1990, attended Sonoma State University (where I met my future husband, but didn't marry him until 2001), then transferred to San Diego State, where I eventually graduated, after switching my major from Physics to Communications. Pretty much a culture shock going between those two majors.

As I said above, I'm married, and I also have two children - a daughter and a son. They're the reason I decided to work at home. In college, I never would have thought I would be so happy working at home. As a matter of fact, I was rather emphatic that I would never be a stay at home parent. But I have found a great deal of joy working at home and being with my children.

This website was started because as soon as I started working as a medical transcriptionist, I was regularly asked how to get into it. Originally, I did a project for a web design class I was taking on how to get into medical transcription, which was the seed of the idea for this website. Certainly, there are many other work at home websites out there, but we each offer a unique take on the topic. I am one of very few to offer FREE advice on getting into medical transcription. Considering it's mostly about looking at your skills and choosing the right school, I just didn't see any reason to charge for it.

Running this business keeps me very busy, and I was delighted when I reached a point where I no longer needed to do medical transcription as well. Now I can devote my attention to my family and to improving my websites. One of the comments I've gotten on this site is that it has more original content than most work at home websites. I do a lot of research trying to be unique, and often that means not using the same content as every other site.

I try to keep in mind that your typical stay at home parent, whether or not they work at home, is on a pretty tight budget. For that reason, I offer both free and cheap advertising on this site, as well as advice on saving money. I do my best to avoid the overhyped, overpriced products that are so prevalent in the work at home world and bring you real ways to be home with your kids.

Could I imagine working outside the home now? Not easily. Certainly a time may come where that could be necessary, but in the meantime, I am here for my children and loving the business I'm running. There's something very satisfying about creating a successful business on your own. With any luck, in a future year I will earn enough to bring my husband home and let him work on a business of his choosing too.
