That was unexpected. I just got a call on my cell phone for a Stage 2 alert relating to the upcoming storm in my area and the risk of mudslides. The call had my area listed as a place potentially at risk of that due to the recent fires.
Am I worried? No.
First of all, we aren’t that close to any of the hills. Secondly, the nearest hills to us did not burn this time.
But I am impressed to see the emergency call system working. When I found out they had a system to send alert calls to cell phones I signed up for it. We never did get evacuation notices through the landline telephone during the fires, so I felt it was important to try for another way.
I guess it works.
