For pretty much any home business, there are many things you will need. From taking care of legalities to basic supplies to creating your website (and you can do it yourself!), make sure you have the right supplies.
Legal resources
IRS links to state requirements for small businesses – find out if you need a business license, seller’s permit or any other licensing in your area.
Also go to your city hall to find out about getting a DBA (Doing Business As), FBN (Fictitious Business Name), or business license if applicable. If you are not using your own name, you will generally need a DBA or FBN, and you may or may not need a business license, depending on your area. Always check. It doesn’t cost much in most areas to get a business license, but penalties for not having one can be harsh, even $100s per DAY.

Create your home business website
Starting a home business website may not be as difficult as you think. I currently use A2 Hosting for this website, and they have tools that can simplify the process for you. My favorite is WordPress, which is an easy install through your website host.
