Work as a teacher for a virtual public education program. Various topics and grade levels may be available, as they serve grades K-12.

Teachers with Connections Academy may be required to meet with students in person from time to time, but most of the time you can work from home. You will need to live in the area so that these meetings are possible. Look for home based positions, as not all positions are work at home jobs.

As of this writing, Connections Academy operates 29 virtual academies in 25 states. Pay and benefits may vary by location. Benefits may include healthcare and 401k.

Teachers must hold an appropriate teaching certificate for the state they're teaching in.

Communication with parents and students is done through WebMail, asynchronous discussions and synchronous “conferencing.” Teachers monitor student completion of assignments, conduct online teaching sessions, and assist struggling students learn the material.

Teachers must offer regular online office hours. Trainings and meetings at local Connections Academy locations may be required.
