Some companies do now charge for a background check.
This is not necessarily a sign of a scam, but it is quite disappointing to see companies charging potential employees for something that ought to be a cost of doing business. However, the only companies listed here that do charge such a fee have also proven to pay regularly.

To the best of my knowledge, these are all legitimate. If you find one to be a scam, let me know immediately. It will be removed from this page promptly. If you know of a legitimate opportunity that is not on this page, send it in. Not all companies will be hiring at this time.
In most cases, I do not recommend you pay for job lead websites. Too many simply fail to keep their list updated. However, I have found Telework Recruiting to be an exception to that rule. The owner does an excellent job and even has employers come to her to look for employees. The jobs are screened, and the fee is for lifetime access.
