No TV Day – Free Fun Friday
Well, this may not sound like much fun to some families, but it really can be. Leave the TV off all day.
We use this sometimes as a disciplinary tool, but the kids have been known to ask for it. I honestly think they enjoy it.
A no TV day means they tend to be more creative and have more fun together. Frankly I think my kids argue less when they haven’t seen any television all day than when they’ve had even a little time watching it.
You don’t have to plan to go anywhere on a no TV day. Going out in some ways defeats the purpose, or at least makes it too easy. You’re trying to find ways to do other things. And despite what children may think, there are generally plenty of things they can do at home that don’t involve watching television or playing video games.

We did a No TV Week a couple of years ago. It was surprisingly FUN.
Great idea!
