Want Options to Live Greener?

OK, so I’m playing with the company’s name a little. I’m reviewing a site today called Green Options. As the name implies, it’s a new website about the environment.

They have a blog, which is easy to subscribe to via FeedBurner. They have forums so you can meet other people interested in the environment. They offer a Green Life Guide and a Green Report so you can get tips on living a greener lifestyle and keep up with environmental news.

Like a lot of people, I do try to think about what I’m doing environmentally speaking. We garden and do just a little composting – tough to do when you’re renting and can’t dig up the yard, but we found a way. I watch my energy consumption. I recycle. I try to encourage my kids to think about what they really need. I also have them use junk mail for a lot of crafts – stuff has to be good for something.

In other words, I do enjoy getting more ideas. Whether or not you believe in global warming, some things make sense in terms of not wasting as well as in terms of saving money, something great for stay at home parents.

But I do think we need to be concerned about global warming, just in case you were wondering. You can disagree with me if you like; that doesn’t bother me at all. But I’d rather be wrong in agreeing with it than down the line finding out that oops! Global warming is real and no one tried to do anything about it. But even beyond that I trust the science behind it.

I enjoyed the section on finding local food sources, even though it is still very much so under development. I’d seen some of the ideas before, but it never hurts to have a reminder.

Yes, I did subscribe to the blog. Only time will tell how often I’ll actually read it, but I decided it was worth a try.
